Revolution tests the functionality of smartphones in under three minutes
Schiphol (Amsterdam) / the Netherlands 30 June 2014 – Teleplan, one of the top global end-to-end aftermarket service solution providers, has today launched Revolution, the world’s first fully-automated multi-brand smartphone tester for the after sales services market.
The smartphone market continues to grow, with 1 billion units sold globally in 2013. Users are becoming increasingly dependent on their smartphones as use becomes more integrated into people’s everyday lives. IDC reported in its Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker that smartphones will represent virtually all of the mobile phone market in many of the world’s most developed economies by the end of 2017. Teleplan estimates that every year 150 million smartphones are now being returned for after-market services and repairs around the world. As Revolution offers a time saving of around five minutes per device, Teleplan can pass on a significant time saving to its customers.
Revolution enables high-quality, repeatable, functional testing and grading that helps support customers’ brand integrity. Furthermore, test times and associated processing time is reduced by up to 70%, enabling Teleplan to get smartphones back into the hands of customers more quickly and at a lower cost per unit.
When compared to manual testing, quality assurance is dramatically improved as Revolution provides consistent, reliable and accurate full-functional verification of the smartphone, saving customers the costs and frustrations associated with misdiagnoses. Revolution conducts all the normal testing procedures that are expected by the aftersales services industry to the Device Renewal Forum guideline standards. A robotic arm is utilized to provide tactile test capability of the smartphone buttons and screen and the RF transceiver is tested in a shielded environment in situ, no longer requiring a de-coupled testing process. All of the test results are captured in a database to enable failure analysis follow up. For the first time in the after sales services market, Revolution will also enable customers to have a credible verification of test results and erasure confirmation.
